A man sits at a cluttered desk in a library, holding his head in his hands, looking stressed. Sunlight filters through tall windows, books surround.
"When did everything go so wrong?"

You: This world… You can’t even secure a place to live without endlessly slaving away.

(You run a hand through your thinning hair, frustration simmering just beneath the surface.)

You: When did everything go so wrong? Or was it always like this?

(You pause, then scoff bitterly.)

You: What if I could go back?

(A moment of silence.)

You: No. It wouldn’t matter. Nothing would be different. You were losing right from the start. Everyone else? They’re miles ahead.

(A realization dawns on you.)

You: The wrong genes, that’s all it is.

(You laugh.)

You: How ironic! They’re born failures themselves. Barely surviving. And yet, they expected me to excel? To thrive?

(Your voice cracks, the weight of your own expectations breaking through.)

You: Why can’t I just let go? Why can’t I stop trying to be the son they wanted?

(A VOICE whispers: Because you can’t even afford a place to hide.)

(The words hit like a punch to the gut. You drop your head on the desk, overwhelmed by it all.)
