The Encounter (Part 2)

"They’re fast!"

(Just as you lunge in to strike, a bolt of lightning erupts from the clouds, jolting your flight pack.)

You: Damn!

(In desperation, you reach out, gripping Mia’s legs to stabilize yourself. The two of you spin in mid-air.)

Mia: Let go!

You: Not happening!

(A swarm of black AI bugs materializes around you, closing in on Mia.)

You: They’re fast!

(You let go of Mia's legs, knowing she’ll be consumed in no time.)

(Deploying your parachute, you watch Mia fall toward the deserted edge of the Shielded City as the bugs swarm her.)

You: But… why the lightning within the shield?
